all this requires practice, just go a court and start shooting from a close range where you can do everything i told you to and start to increase the range as your get used to it
also jumper higher doesn't mean you won't get blocked, hangtime in your shot is what matters...look at Kobe or MJ they hang in the air for like 3-5 seconds when they shoot over someone.

umm i think hangtime=bad. Think about it, it gives the defender time to react if you were to pull up of the dribble or shoot outta triple threat , givin them a chance to block\contest your shot. It also decreases the power generated by your lower body so youd get a shot that is short or flat because you dont have power. (ive tried shooting jumpshots with hangtime and that did happen so i shot em more naturaly)
