It's a matter of preferance, but the players with a high release point are usually all big men or wing players, you don't see shorter guards with that type of release, because it's hard to have much range on your jumper with that type of release and not being all that tall or incredibly strong.
Really, you should just stick to the shot you have if it works for you. Instead of changing your form, you should work on creating space for your jumper and understanding how to get open better. The high release point only really helps in cases where you're shooting with a hand in your face, unless you're an amazing shooter, you shouldn't be shooting those types of shots very often anyways.
