You can't.
There's two routines there and that needs to be properly followed in order for you to get maximal gains. I would go with Westside for simply improving your basketball playing, while also getting gains on your vertical. Not saying VJB is a better program or anything, but I prefer WS4SB for preparing and improving for basketball. Great program.
As to the nutrition part, that will be up to you to read about on. There's lots and lots of factors you need to put into diet, such as whether you are bulking, or trying to keep the bodyfat low while gaining muscle, etc etc. The list goes on and on. I would recommend you to visit
