Take a look at black thought from the roots, firstly check out his freestyle with questlove which was before he went big, and then watch his new freestyle at rap city.
he still has the same skills, and nothings changed besides the cloths he is wearing. i believe staying true to yourself is important, it is thier duty to provide that through their music.

thats for real man. ther are so many examples of cases like that in hip hop today. One hardcore example is bone thugz and harmony. They practically sold out every aspect of ther career for money. black thought is actually one of the truest emcees ive heard.
For me, i dont really mind gangsta rap, i mean i love N.W.A. and all of them cats, heck i even liked 50 with his power of a dollar cd, and seriously Hate it Or love It was actually a nice track. In fact i know a lot of posers that say 50 Cent sucks blah blah blah, but in the end they still bump In Da Club and P.I.M.P. on their ipods. But in the end, I'd rather listen to Rakim and Eric B., Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Tech., and all those other cats.
And i got a question, how come 50 has become kind of a scapegoat for ruining rap? Thers so many other worse rappers out ther.. and he seems to get all the blame
