Improvement to his running form is not strictly necessary imo. Also, he'll naturally be able to build up to more speed in his run up. No point sprinting to the take off point, loading the muscles when he is not strong enough to absorb the extra forces. Slowly, he'll just add inches. His take off looks pretty good.
