More or less, we have the same problem. Im more or less your age and I guess still overweight. Im 5'7 and I still weigh 170, a drop of around 40 pounds from 8 months to a year ago. In any case, although I have the programs, I have not started on any since most members have advised me to lose more weight or to have 10% or less body fat before I do the programs.
If you do the programs at your current out of shape weight, you will compound your problems and further increase your chances of injury.
I suggest losing weight first. Losing the weight itself will increase your vert.
