I was kind of expecting some detraining effect.
Obviously this maximises the time spent under tension, recruits more muscle fibre etc: this can be a good thing as you can make nice strength gains especially if you are a novice lifter. However, don't neglect the type of training that develops your CNS/motor unit recruitment ability and RFD. That said, what john said about working in cycles is good advice for best results.

Yeah, I have been on a BIG box squatting kick lately. My gains were pretty unexpected honestly. Doing standard box, front with heels up on 1" block, then wide box. Followed with seated, then standing calve raises. Ended with SLD & deadlifts. Today I had basketball practice for a couple of hours, then went home and did this routine. I finished with a 250 lbs deadlift, and I was already DEAD, but I felt like I could have done 300. Working that posterior chain! How long has it been since you last lifted? After training for maybe 12 weeks, I try to take a week or two off from the gym. I ususally see a little drop off, and my normal weight comes back in about 2 or 3 sessions. I just cut and pasted my workout routine, I must have left that part in on the slow concetrated lifts. Wongkey, don't bother with that. Keep up the pace, do more clean and press!
