but then again, its always differrent for each individual, just stating my opinion
Hi Chriso

For the most part the experts talked about getting stronger. Unlike Kelly B of VJB, they mostly talked up getting strong on your deadlift more than your squat, although one guy did talk up getting strong on your squat. Several of the experts interviewed where Kettlebell guru's and they all recommend doing kettlebell swings to improve the hip extension and explosively train the P-Chain. I don't own kettlebells but have found swinging an Olympic plate with handles has worked very well instead.

Another 2 Expert talked up using rubber bands to optimize your training. There is a free article here:

http://www.vertical-jump-homepage.com/rubber_band.html

Which outlines the same information as these guys. One of the rubber band guys was Jon Hinds who invented the power jumper. I have one of these and love it. However, as stated in another thread my training is pretty sporadic with it because I am rarely at home for more than two weeks in a row.

Then there is Virgil Aponte himself who put it all together and he talks about stair training which he used when he was coach of the NY Liberty in the WNBA. Unsure how beneficial that is given how low women jump.

The key points i took away are that you get strong on the deadlift and squats, kettlebell swings are good for developing explosive hip extension, rubber bands are very effective, cut the body fat, and plyometrics are the be all and end all and are really best used once you have strength.

Cheers

Another expert talks about nutrition and cutting body fat. Nutrition to give you more energy, aid with recovery etc, and also obviously cutting body fat is key to improving your vertical.
